The walk is the point. I go for long days in the hills, Arthur’s Pass most often at the moment, and the camera comes along for whatever turns up on the way. Usually that’s the view from somewhere high, and it’s best when there’s snow still sitting on the tops. The rest is birds. I’ve got more kea than I know what to do with, so the plan now is to start keeping a list: the natives I’ve seen up there and haven’t managed to photograph properly yet, and the ones I haven’t seen at all.
